As far as current shows go, people tend to consider Euphoria to be an accurate depiction of how hard high school life is. Sydney Sweeney is a beloved Euphoria star and her character, Cassie Howard, is kind and dealing with an unplanned pregnancy.

What Did Cazzie David Say About 'Euphoria'?
In an essay for Air Mail, where she is a regular columnist who often writes about her thoughts and feelings, Cazzie David said that Euphoria is unrealistic because the characters are confident and they don't seem to feel bad about themselves. Cazzie believes that is confusing as high school is often a time of feeling bad about yourself and comparing yourself to your peers and wondering if you will ever measure up.
Cazzie wrote about how the "paralyzing insecurity" that many teenagers face is "almost nonexistent in this high school."
Cazzie continued, "I was under the impression that it’s biologically impossible for an adolescent to conjure a mindset of 'feeling oneself.' That it’s a legal obligation for teens to feel awkward and ugly, even the most loved and beautiful ones. But I guess Gen Z knows they’re hot and aren’t afraid to admit it." It's hard not to smile at that last line and to relate to what Cazzie is saying, as many people have a high school experience that is full of worry.
Cazzie also had an interesting observation: that many people in their 30s say that this age is much better than being a twentysomething as people come into their own and feel better about themselves. She shared that it doesn't seem like the characters on Euphoria feel badly about themselves or their bodies at all.

Cazzie finished the essay by talking about how the Euphoria characters approach certain situations and how she would. She talked about how the teenagers are dressed and wrote, "I don’t have the confidence to be able to wear their regular school outfits for Halloween. And on Halloween, I feel like I’m trying too hard if I wear just a hat to a costume party."
Cazzie also joked about how the female characters send naked photos to their crushes and they're not concerned about it at all. Cazzie said that she has trouble messaging someone she likes and she has to consult her pals to find out if her crush would think that it was a problem that she just said hi.

Cazzie David Is Always Honest About Her Life And Thoughts
In an interview with The Coveteur, Cazzie David spoke about feeling insecure and being unsure of herself, a theme that is pretty common in her writing and interviews.
Cazzie commented on why it's hard for her to wear a dress: “I’m always really ashamed to wear dresses in my day-to-day life because I never have. When I do, someone will be like, ‘Oh, you’re wearing a dress! You never wear dresses!’ It’s too much attention for me. It was nice to have an excuse to wear one and not feel weird about doing it.”
Cazzie also talked about not being very confident when she was younger and how that informed whether she would enter the acting world. Cazzie said, “I never really thought I would be acting because I had really low confidence. But there was always an interest in writing growing up. I would write stories sometimes and they would end up being unintentionally funny. When you’re miserable, it can be funny. That’s something my dad told me.”
