In 2013, Ariana featured Big Sean on her track, Right There. At the 2013 VMAs, the latter's verse went quite literal when he picked up the pop star after a fall backstage. The two were later seen holding hands during the next year's VMAs. Ariana confirmed they were dating in October that year, describing him as "one of the most amazing men in the whole world." Rumors of Ariana and Justin being romantically involved were probably just a Scooter Braun PR strategy as well. The two are just close friends. In 2014, the former showed her support for then-19-year-old Biebs after he was arrested for drag racing. "It's gotten to a point where I just want him to be okay," she told Boston radio station Mix 104.1 (via Capital FM).
"It's this very serious thing. It's not just like a kid who's, you know screwing around, it's dangerous," she continued. "It's very serious and upsetting." Ariana later quoted Justin's thank-you tweet and acknowledged his burnout from the Purpose World Tour whose few dates were canceled. "Circling back. Your fans, friends and the world is thrilled to have you back. Everyone was so happy to see u smile like that," she wrote. "No one will ever understand how it feels to be u, but it's not their job to. Take care. Make music. U are loved. P.s. everyone in that video will b streaming."
