The Netflix show Never Have I Ever has been renewed for its fourth season, which will also be the final season of the series, likely to debut in 2023. The first season was a hit across the globe, with over 40 million households tuning in the first four weeks. And giving its cast, which includes Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Jaren Lewiston, Darren Barnet, Lee Rodriguez, and Ramona Young, a major breakthrough.
The coming of age comedy serves all the teenage emotional drama with Kaling's humor with unprecedented representation in its creative team and star cast. With inclusivity at its peak (and rare in Hollywood), most of the cast members are South Asians.

The show deals with important topics of racism, grief, parenting techniques, body image issues, conversations about sexuality, and finding oneself amid failing relationships and newfound friendships. All of those topics of importance in the usual high school drama recipe is a master plan, and it certainly worked. But star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan just dropped one big hint about the upcoming season.
'Never Have I Ever' Will Have A Fourth Season
The Mindy Kailing and Lang Fisher created show revolves around first-generation Indian-American adolescent Devi, played by Ramakrishnan. Devi has got a lot to deal with. With new friendships, mom issues, and struggles with mental health past her father's demise, she finds herself in a love triangle with one of the people being her lifetime nemesis. The cast also features Poorna Jagannathan and Richa Moorjani, with Tennis legend John McEnroe as the narrator.
After two hit seasons, the show is set to make its return with a third season this summer, with the filming of the same being reportedly complete.
"Hey Crickets, we've got some morning announcements for you: Season 3 of 'Never Have I Ever' is going to drop this summer! Plus we've just been renewed for a fourth and final season, which we are absolutely thrilled about," said Kaling and Fisher in a tweet.
"We can't wait to reveal all the steamy romance and hilarious adventures we have in store for you. Thanks to all our fans for your support – especially you #Bevi and #Daxton stans. We love you!"
With the third season still due to its release, fans are excited to know how Devi's life plays out now that everything seemed settled for her at the end of the second season.
Ramakrishnan On The Upcoming Season
As fans excitedly await the new season, Ramakrishnan added to the anticipation with her reply in conversation with Pinkvilla when asked about the upcoming season.
She quipped at first, "I mean, I'm a vault. I feel like we should all know this by now; I hate spoilers. I'm all about no spoilers, watch it when it comes out, I want everything to be a surprise and we'll talk about it later. Pending a week because that's the appropriate time to not talk about spoilers on Twitter. After a week, it's a free game."
Ramakrishnan has always been her charming, witty self, and in interviews, she never picked sides in the love triangle while promoting season two as not to give any hints whatsoever. So we might agree that she indeed is a vault when it comes to spoilers.
However, teasing the upcoming season a bit, she added, "But, all I can say is, expect a lot of change. And I definitely know that that's very mysterious and definitely open-ended and I'm doing that on purpose."
That remark itself is sufficient to lead fans' curiosity and excitement on another level as if it's already not high enough.
What Else Has Ramakrishnan Been Up To?
Kailing infamously sent out audition calls on her Twitter for the casting of the show, and 17-year-old Maitreyi took the chance of flying out to LA from her hometown of Mississauga, Canada, for auditioning. The rest is history.
Being Ramakrishnan's first project as a newcomer, the show launched her career to greater heights. She has already deferred her acceptance at the York University, Toronto, to shoot the back-to-back seasons of her show.

That in itself speaks volumes of how busy she has been. However, shooting Never Have I Ever wasn't the only thing that kept her schedule occupied. This success of hers as Devi unsurprisingly led to other better things.
She went on to feature in Netflix's rom-com The Netherfield Girls, voice Priya in Pixar's new animation, Turning Red, and play Zipp Storm in a variety of My Little Pony animated shows. All three of which received brilliant reviews from critics.
Ramakrishnan is undoubtedly a star to watch out for. Winning multiple awards, featuring in leading magazines like TIME, and gaining praise for her outstanding acting skills, she is also helping conversations of significant importance with her project choices at only 19 years of age.
