Rapper T.I. caused a social media uproar in 2019 when he announced on a podcast that he goes to the gynecologist with his daughter, who was 18 years old at the time, to make sure her “hymen is still intact.” With his controversial comment, Deyjah Harris’ mom seemingly took to social media to weigh in on the matter, and here’s what she thinks!

Deyjah Harris’ Mom Throws Shade At T.I.

T.I., whose real name is Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., was roasted by people on the Internet after his controversial remarks about having his daughter’s virginity checked. Among those who spoke against the rapper was none other than his baby mama, Deyjah Harris’ mom, Ms. Niko, who took to Instagram to express her thoughts regarding the issue.

On her Instagram story, Deyjah’s mom simply stated, “…Whew chile, the narcissism…” Although she didn’t name names in her post, it was clear enough that she was referring to her daughter’s father, T.I. Judging by the timing of her post, everyone who has knowledge about the controversy would likely assume it was related to the rapper.

Deyjah Harris’ Mom And T.I. Discuss The Issue

Then in June 2020, both Ms. Niko and T.I. discussed the matter on the podcast. Deyjah's mother told T.I, "You and I know that she's very sensitive. People are coming at her, so I feel like you kind of put her in that line of fire…I just think that the way you said it, you left it open…"

T.I. responded, "because It was a joke." Ms. Niko replied, "It's the way that you told that particular, terrible Dad joke and then you gave information. C'mon man. That sh*t sound wild. You probably shouldn't have made a joke at all. Hindsight is 20/20."

She went on to ask T.I.P. the question on everybody's mind, "It's a bit misogynistic because do you do the same for your sons? Would you ever do that, sir? No, you would not."

One viewer commented, “How you a father and don’t understand how sensitive your daughter privacy is?” Another wrote, “He needs to PUBLICLY apologize to his daughter for embarrassing her publicly. Start THERE.”

T.I. Apologizes For Hymen-Check Issue

T.I. grabbed the opportunity during his appearance with Ms. Niko on the podcast to offer a lengthy apology to his daughter. He said,  "I apologize to Deyjah. You know I love you. You know I've always gone above and beyond to do any and everything possible to make you happy and keep you protected."

The rapper further added, "But I have to acknowledge the fact that you have now become a young lady. I understand that. Some lessons are learned harder than others. But the important thing is, make sure you get the lesson."

In another interview on Jada Pinkett’s show, he tried to explain his stance and feel sorry for what he did. He said that his statement was “misconstrued,” adding that he “began, from a place of truth,” to “embellish and exaggerate” with his daughter to “check her hymen.”

He told Smith that he didn’t grasp the sensitivity of such matter and hopes he can reconcile with his daughter, Deyjah. He continued, “People took it extremely literal. If you put any of my reputation about who I am as a father and who I’ve been, I honestly thought people knew me better than that."

Hopefully, T.I. learned a thing or two. His parenting technique is quite over the top but that’s how he defines fatherhood is. Meanwhile, he posted on his Instagram an apology for any and all things he has done wrong in the past. He also promised to be a better husband and father to them, adding that life without them wouldn’t be the same.

At least it’s good to see that the rapper is reflecting on all the bad things he has done and that his relationships with his loved ones matter the most – amidst the recent serious allegations against him and his wife Tiny of drugging women and forcibly engaging them in lewd, intimate acts.
