Tia and Tamera Mowry started off as childhood actors, who later earned their big break after securing their own sitcom Sister, Sister, which ran from 1994 until 1999, spanning six seasons and a whopping 119 episodes. It’s also no secret that Tia and Tamera were often booked as a duo, with most of their roles being centered around their sisterhood.

Needless to say, once the famous twins reached their adult years, they somewhat stepped away from being a double act as they slowly but surely went their separate ways to establish individual brands because there’s really only so many roles you can play as a twin before people get bored.

The girls have both been very successful in Hollywood, having starred in several TV shows, while Tamera was also a long-running co-host on the daytime talk show The Real alongside her fellow panelists, Tamar Braxton, Adrienne Bailon, Loni Love, and Jeannie Mai.

After having worked together for almost two decades, it wasn’t until the mid-2000s when Tia and Tamera started booking separate projects.

Tia continued on with a very successful career after having landed starring roles in BET’s The Game, the Netflix series Family Reunion, and Instant Mom, to name a few.

Her sister, on the other hand, starred in the medical drama Strong Medicine between 2004 and 2006 before eventually becoming the co-host on The Real in 2013.

Tamera and her co-hosts won the Emmy for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host in 2018, which was a major win for the girls who faced stiff competition in the same category from the likes of The View, The Talk, and The Wendy Williams Show.

In July 2020, the mother of two announced she was leaving The Real after seven years, telling fans in an official statement on Instagram, “The friendships that I’ve made there will last a lifetime, and the people that I’ve had the blessing to interview have changed my life for the better.

“I’m so proud of what all the ladies and I have accomplished there, including two well-deserved NAACP Image Awards and a Daytime Emmy,” she continued. “However, all good things must come to an end, and it’s with a bittersweet smile that I announce that I am moving on from The Real.”

“To my fellow, hosts, I love you, I will miss you, and I will always be there for you. Thank you for teaching me, supporting me, and loving all of me. Sisters forever. Her seven-year run on The Real reportedly earned Tamera a whopping $2.5 million per season, according to Cheat Sheet, though it remains unclear whether she earned this amount right from the beginning or whether her salary increased over the years — especially after the Emmy win.

Still, Tamera was the highest-paid panelist on the show while others were earning between $200,000 to $950,000, the aforementioned publication reports.

Tamera is now focused on raising her children, Aden and Ariah, with her husband, Adam Housley, whom she married back in 2011.

The doting couple are also the proud owners of their very own wine tasting room in Napa, California.

Tamera and Tia launched their own business Need Brands in 2013, which aims to provide mothers and their babies with quality-driven wholesome products.

Speaking about their joint business venture with Forbes, Tia said that starting a company with her sister has been a lifelong dream of theirs since they were young, so when the opportunity came along, neither one of them hesitated to bring their vision to life.

“My sister and I always wanted to have our own company together,” she gushed. "Right now the majority of our products are geared towards mommy first because we felt that was where the need was, which is the main difference. That said, in the future, we plan on expanding our line to satisfy the needs of babies and children as well as mommies.

The pair also starred in their own reality show, Tia & Tamera, on E! From 2011 to 2013.

And when she’s not acting, Tia, who also has two children, Cree and Cairo, spends a lot of her time writing. In 2012, for example, she released her first book, Oh, Baby: Pregnancy Tales and Advice from One Hot Mama to Another.

The famous twins are both believed to be worth an estimated $4 million.
