After spending years together perfectly happy as a duo, the pair opted to have children, to round out their family unit.
According to Hello, "The couple welcomed their first son, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, via a surrogate on Christmas Day in 2010."
Several years later, the pair went down the same road once more, using the same surrogate.
"Elton and David opted for surrogacy in accordance with the Centre for Surrogate Parenting in Encino, California, and just three years later, they used the same surrogate to welcome their second son, Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John in 2013."
Per the article, having multiple children was something that was always in the cards, as John himself grew up as an only child.
"I want him to have a sibling so he has someone to be with. I know when he goes to school there's going to be an awful lot of pressure, and I know he's going to have people saying, 'You don't have a mummy."
"It's going to happen. We talked about it before we had him. I want someone to be at his side and back him up. We shall see," the musician said.
Now, as much as John has done to take care of his children, he won't be leaving them a massive inheritance once he passes on.

According to John, the boys are doing quite well, but an inheritance would not benefit them in any way.
"Listen, the boys live the most incredible lives, they’re not normal kids, and I’m not pretending they are. But you have to have some semblance of normality, some respect for money, some respect for work," he said.
Furnish has echoed similar sentiments, and has even used Warren Buffet as an example.
"Warren Buffet, the third wealthiest man in America, has a really cool model in that he leaves his children enough money so that they have a house, a car and all their basic needs covered and cared for so they never need worry. But it’s not crazy, silly, go-wild money so that they could be buying Picassos or private jets," Furnish said.
Honestly, it's completely reasonable to make sure the kids are taken care of, but not totally spoiled.
Then again, Elton does have a substantial amount of wealth to work with.
